MEDITATION ON LUKE 1: 26–38, THE ANNUNCIATION TO MARY
By: Rhoda S. Glick
“For nothing will be impossible for God. Then Mary said, ‘Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me ac- cording to your word.’ ” (vv. 37–38)
As you listen to these words being spoken to you, breathe into them. Take a few minutes to allow them to be at home within you. Notice how they are a gentle invitation to you. As you continue to softly breathe into them, be aware of what is happening in you.
Take a few moments to see how the following questions speak to you.
WHAT NEW THING MIGHT THE HOLY SPIRIT BE ANNOUNCING IN YOUR LIFE?
HOW MIGHT THIS SEEM IMPOSSIBLE TO YOU? WHAT HAPPENS AS YOU ALLOW YOURSELF TO HEAR
THE WORDS “FOR NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR
Now take time to repeatedly listen deeply to Mary’s re- sponse: “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.”
Notice what happens as you allow those words to become your response to the Spirit’s invitation to you.
Stay there a while.
Be thankful for the invitation and for your response.
